Looks like
Porsche has felt the heat for the need of EV’s. Tesla which is already ahead in
the electrification field is doing brilliantly. Though there are several brands
that have come up with electric cars not many have come up with sports and
luxury cars. Porsche wants to take this opportunity first and have the early
advantage. Porsche had already announced that it will come up. Now Porsche has
a flagship electric sports car Taycan. Porsche has itself announced that the
Taycan will be bigger than the Taycan and will even outsell the 911.
Porsche has
already got a 30,000 pre-orders for Taycan. Taycan is still not even in its
final stage and already a 30,000 pre-order entry is huge. Just the idea of
having an Porsche electric car is making all the buyers go bonkers. The car
won’t even be showcased till the Frankfurt carshow in September. In Norway
alone, the automaker said that they received close to 3,000 reservations with
deposits. It was encouraging because Porsche normally sells only about 600
vehicles per year in the market. Globally, the number has been expected to be
more impressive. Porsche has already started to prepare for the surge and
planning to produce 40,000 cars annually.
Porsche was
expecting the produce 20,000 cars initially but when they got pre-orders for
30,000 cars they planned to rise the manufacturing capacity to 40,000.
The aim was
to put a fresh face in the Porsche line-up and well compete or rather be the
leader in the Electric vehicle performance car like the Tesla Model S. Will the
loyal Tesla American car fans swift their loyalty to the mainstream car leader
Porsche? We will have to wait to see.
Well, there
is very little information available about the Porsche Taycan. From whatever
information we have got the Porsche Taycan that will launch with a 250 KW
charge rate instead of the previously announced 350 KW. The electric super
performance car will come with a range of 300 miles. To reach 80% of the distance 240 miles can be done with a fast
charge within 15 mins.
The Taycan
electric will deliver a massive power of 600 horsepower to all the four wheel
drive car. The car will reach a speed of 60 in just 3.5 seconds and will reach
a speed of 120 in 12 seconds.
The base version will come up with a 80 KWH battery pack and a rear-drive motor. However, we can see the higher versions or the high ends cars to come with a 96 KWH battery pack and not to mention dual motor options for more. The price has not been announced as well, but we are expecting the base version to start around US $ 80,000 undercutting the base price of the entry level Porsche 911 and the high end cars to touch around US $ 130,000.
